About
Artist Statement
As a multidisciplinary artist, I endeavor to create works that are deeply rooted in the singularity of human experience, exploring the profound ways in which our social, emotional, and familial connections shape both our internal landscapes and the physical environments we inhabit. My practice is an inquiry into the delicate interplay between personal memory, cultural heritage, and the inexorable passage of time—elements that inform not only my individual identity but also our collective human evolution.
Drawing inspiration from the emotional resonance of the natural world, the built environment and lived experiences preserved through personal and ancestral memory, my work embodies themes of transnational identity, displacement, belonging, and self-reflection. Through my artistic process, I seek to articulate the fluid and often contradictory emotions that arise from navigating multiple cultural spaces, engaging in a dialogue between the familiar and the unknown, the rooted and the transient.
Employing an array of mediums—including painting, embroidery, site-specific installations, murals, and jewelry design—I intentionally incorporate traditional textile techniques and embroidery as a means of forging a deeper connection with my lineage and cultural heritage. The tactility of fabric and thread serves as a metaphor for intergenerational storytelling, weaving together the past, present and my hopes for the future.
