Held Together
2019
Raw canvas, and acrylic

Held Together explores the quiet relationship between repetition, accumulation, and care. Painted canvas is folded, gathered into a richly textured surface where color emerges in fragments between layers of material. As the eye moves across the work, patterns appear and disappear, revealing a landscape that is constantly shifting between concealment and revelation.
Each fold records the movement of the hand, transforming repetition into a meditative act of making. The painted circles surface unexpectedly among the gathered forms, suggesting seeds, constellations, or moments of recognition that resist settling into a single meaning. The work invites slow looking, allowing new relationships to emerge with each encounter.
Through cloth, paint, and the patient rhythm of stitching, Held Together reflects on the ways memory is gathered over time, not as a fixed narrative, but as an accumulation of gestures, experiences, and moments of care that continue to shape us.
